If you want your music to sound professional (in sound quality) you should get it mastered.
Yup there is a point:

It also makes your music sound louder.
If you listen to an unmastered song and a mastered song (whether its on mp3 or CD) you will clearly be able to tell the difference.
Personally I wouldn't sell my music if it weren't mastered.
ps. see if you can find some mastered and unmastered sample songs online as examples…
